Christopher George Stutters Obituary
In loving memory of Christopher George Stutters:
Beloved Husband, Father, Son,
Brother, Grandpa, and child of the King. Born on December 10 of
1947 to his parents George and Annie Stutters (Griffin) of
Westbank; Chris trusted the Lord as Saviour early at 11 years of
age. He is survived, by his devoted wife Evelyn, Sister Lois
(Terry) Ryan, and Brothers John (Sharon), Dwight, Don (Debbie)
and Keith. Chris also started his own family with Evelyn (Hatt) of
N.S after their marriage in 1970 and is survived by their Children
Chris Jr. (Corinne), Darlene, Michael, Kathryn and Sons in law Al
and Brian.
The Lord has also blessed Chris and Evelyn with 10
grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Chris was predeceased
by parents George and Annie Stutters (Griffin), infant brother Karl,
and daughter Nancy. His life was not empty nor were his days
fulfilled in vain; He served the Lord till the very end and is reaping
his rewards in heaven.
You didn’t have to know Chris long to understand his conviction and burden for others.
God blessed him and so he was a blessing and by Gods grace he carried on a life
that touched many both young and old, saved or lost and was privileged to truly be called “friend”
by those he was most close to.
Chris was a simple man, he believed in prayer, the Bible, and
hard work and this was evident whether he was out for coffee,
spending time with his family, or gathering wood for winter. He
knew how to laugh, he knew how to be serious, and most of all he
knew his mission in life and the higher calling given to each of us
by the one true God.
Our Lord was always first in his life; whether
working as a custodian until retirement or serving as a short term
missionary in Ireland from August 2002-2003 with his wife. He
proclaimed the Gospel both near and far. We are bought with a
price and Chris, knowing the debt neither he nor any of us could
pay, modeled his life after what he knew to be right, knowing for
certain he had a home in heaven.
He was always just passing through and while he stayed a while
and we enjoyed many days, months, or even years with him,
he always knew his day would come and he would be off to meet his Savior.
We mourn and grieve his passing and such a loss will leave a hole not easily
filled. What a joy and comfort that we can rejoice knowing we will
meet him again and he has found perfect peace in a place free
from the burden of sin and this sinful world.
He was always just passing through and would desire that we left behind continue the
work. His legacy will not soon be forgotten, his testimony even
now will continue to echo in the minds of many that met and knew
him. He having passed into Glory may we remember Chris for the
Love he shared, the burden for souls he carried, and the life he
lived that influenced and encouraged so many.
Till we meet again, may we endeavor to have the kind of faith Chris lived; may
the work continue and may we carry on, grieving for a
season, but picking up the torch so we too can boldly march
onward while there is still time and the day is not yet called
tomorrow.
May we not forget the blessing and privilege it has
been to know Chris, but even greater still, may we not forget his
desire to be used of God and by extension, his invitation unto us
to do the same.
