ANDERLIC, Alojzija “Louise”

Alojzija Anderlic (née Dolmovic) died peacefully on August 1, 2024, surrounded by family at Kelowna General Hospital.
Alojzija was born in Sajevce, Kostanjvica, Slovenia (formerly Yugoslavia) on May 25, 1935. She was married by proxy on June 19, 1960 to Alojs Anderlic, who had already immigrated to Canada. Alojzija then immigrated to Canada where she and Alojs were married in the Catholic Church, and started their lives together in Regina. They had 3 children, Lucy, John and David. In 1971 the family moved to Kelowna where they had built a home in the Rutland area.
Alojzija loved to entertain, cook and bake wonderful Slovenian treats, and kept a large garden that helped feed a growing family, as well as producing beautiful flowers. She was an accomplished seamstress and volunteered at the Rutland Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop for over 20 years. She was also an active part of the Kelowna Slovenian community for many years.
Her Catholic faith was a constant throughout her life, and it gave her great comfort, especially while she was struggling in her last months. She prayed the Our Father frequently when she was ill, and said it brought her peace.
Alojzija is survived by her husband Alojs; daughter Lucy (Don) Turri, and son John (Jackie); grandson Daniel, and step-grandchildren Samantha (Carrie), Luke (Summer), Mary, Cole, Erica, and Nicholas. She was predeceased by her son David.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and residents of Sun Pointe Village for their kindness and care. Also, the staff at KGH 5B, the Cottonwoods Short Stay Unit, and KGH Emergency, who provided great comfort to our Mother in her last days.
Prayers for Alojzija will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 7:00 pm and a Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 10:00 am followed by a luncheon, all at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 750 Rutland Road N, Kelowna BC.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the KGH Foundation.
