GORDON EDGEWORTH
1959 — 2024
In Loving Memory of Gordon Edgeworth, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a nearly 2-year battle with Cancer at the age of 64. Gordon leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and service that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Gordon was born and lived in Kamloops, B.C., his whole life. He dedicated over two decades of his life as a social worker, tirelessly working with, listening to, and advocating for marginalized communities. His commitment to helping others and his unwavering empathy touched countless lives. Family often referred to him as “Papa G”, and his coworkers affectionately nicknamed him “Human Ativan”, reflecting his calming presence and compassionate nature.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Gordon lived life to the fullest, embracing his passions with enthusiasm and joy. Whether he was exploring the open road on his motorbike, navigating the tranquil waters while sailing, perfecting the art of sourdough bread making, or finding solace in the beauty of Adams Lake, Gordon’s zest for life was infectious.
Gordon’s greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted husband to Debra, a cherished father to Kristin (Troy) Strand and David (Kamila) Edgeworth, and a doting grandfather to Taylor and Kolton Strand. He found immense happiness in spending time with them, nurturing their spirits with his boundless love and wisdom.
Gordon was a beloved brother to Ron (Brenda) Edgeworth, Darrell (Cheryl) Edgeworth, Mike (Roberta) Edgeworth, and Brian Edgeworth. Their bond was unbreakable, and Gordon’s presence will be deeply missed by each of them. Gordon also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, his lifelong best friend Terry, numerous friends, and colleagues.
Gordon is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved parents, Burt and Irene Edgeworth, whom he held dear in his heart. Also reunited with Gordon are his loyal companions, Norton, Joey, and Barney, his favorite dogs who provided him with unwavering companionship and comfort over the years.
Special thanks are extended to Dr. Farrin, Kamloops Hospice staff, and D’Angelo and the rest of the home care nurse team, for their exceptional care and support during Gordon’s final days.
Gordon’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will forever inspire us to make the world a better place, just as he did every day of his remarkable life.
The Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be on Friday, April 12th, at 1:00 pm at Kamloops Funeral Home, 285 Fortune Dr. All are welcome to attend. Reception to follow.
