Obituary of John Clayton Kitt
John Clayton Kitt was born on March 4, 1943 to Dale Mead Kitt and Dellia Frances Kitt in New Raymer, Colorado.
At age 3, John along with his two bothers Ivan and Alan, sister Alice, their parents, and Dale’s parents William and Anna Kitt, moved to Colville, Washington to escape the drought, dust bowl conditions. They settled in the Millcreek area on a small farm. They later moved to the Narcisse Creek area east of Colville and built a life with their family. John married Diane Lynn on June 14, 1968, and they immigrated to Canada to seek land in the Peace River area, perhaps following his grandfather’s desire to have land in the North. John and Diane homesteaded a parcel of land on the Blueberry River about 40 miles NW of Fort St. John. They had two children, William John, adopted in 1970 at five weeks old, and Jeffery Alan, born on September 30, 1971. John continued to live and work on the farm, raising cattle, grain and forage, as well as operate a small contracting company, clearing many treed acres in farming communities until he decided to retire to an easier life of fishing and family get togethers. John was a proud grandfather to five grandkids, Carol-Lyn, Tyler, Kirsten, Wylie, and Ally, and great grandfather to Aaron.
He passed away on August 9 from Colon Cancer. His ashes will be placed in the Buick Creek Cemetery.
John will be missed by all who have shared so many stories over the years.
