Susan passed away at the East Kootenay Regional hospital in Cranbrook BC on June 16, 2024, surrounded by her family at her side. Mom was born on June 10 1936 In Sale, England to William and Alice Thorpe. Often joked she was born just in time for ww2 her and her family survived several blitzes during the war. At 16 years of age she embarked on a career in nursing that took her from Manchester to Guernsey, onto Canada . Susan met Joseph McLaughlin in Prince Rupert and they were Married on October 26, 1963. Joe and Susan welcomed two daughters while in Prince Rupert. In 1969 the family moved to Cranbrook where they welcomed their youngest daughter. Mom enjoyed curling, golfing and over 20 years volunteering at the hospital auxiliary.
Susan is survived by her Daughters Janet (Bob), Christine (Dean), Alison (Warren) and her 8 grandchildren Ryan (Jess), Christopher (Haidyn), Sarah (Otto), Libby (Alex), Logan, Hailey, Quinten (Kim) and Tyler (Tyler) and 3 Great Grandchildren . She was predeceased by her Husband Joe in 2007 and sister Janet.
A Celebration of life will take place in late summer.
