With love in our hearts, we announce the passing of Raynald Joseph George Leduc in the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on October 9th, 2024. Ray was born in Quebec in 1946 to Joseph and Germaine Leduc, he was to be their 15th child of 18. Ray was survived by his wife Nicole Leduc, son Rock (Melissa), daughter Nancy, sisters Rejeanne and Yvette Leduc, grandchildren Lindsey, Jesse, Colton (Terrace), Tristen (Rachael), Hugh, and great-grandchildren Jacob, Blake, Barrett, along with many nieces and nephews. Raynald was predeceased by his parents, his close sisters Lucette and Marie-Marthe, along with other siblings, aunts, uncles and grandparents.
Ray and Nicole were married and started their lives 59 years ago in Quebec. It was here where they expanded their family by adding their two children Rock and Nancy Leduc. During this time Ray grew his passion for mechanics while operating his waste management and forestry companies. They left Quebec in 1980 to explore new horizons, stopping briefly in Cochrane AB, before arriving in Sparwood BC in 1981. Here Ray continued his passion for working as a heavy-duty technician employed with Line Creek Operations.
In 1987 Ray and Nicole made another move, this time to Cranbrook BC where they purchased what is now known as Rock Core Mine and the land they made their forever home on. In 2004 Raynald made the shift yet again to entrepreneur, leaving LCO and opening his very own companies Rock Core Mine LTD and R Leduc Enterprises. This was his life’s passion, only coming in second to his family.
Nothing made Ray prouder than his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren! Knowing that his legacy would live on through them brought him immense joy.
Ray loved to spend his time camping, hunting, and fishing. There was never a time where he was content to sit, Ray loved to be on the move. Always having a project going in the shop, walking around surveying rock to be moved, or going on a side-by-side ride up Lumberton. A man with a bigger work ethic, you could not find.
Raynald will be forever remembered for his dedication to his family, having the biggest heart, and being the mountain in a storm. You could always count on him to be there for you.
There will be a celebration of life in the spring of 2025.
