Marisha Perrett (Strelaeff) passed away peacefully at Talerico Place in Castlegar, BC, on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Castlegar on February 5, 1938, she was the beloved daughter of John and Polly Strelaeff.
From a young age, Marisha had a deep passion for caring for others. After completing her schooling, she pursued her dream and attended nursing school, eventually becoming a dedicated nurse. Before starting her nursing career, Marisha embarked on a worldwide cruise that led her to many countries. During this adventure, she met the father of her children in Australia. Captivated by her, he followed her to Castlegar, where Marisha began her nursing career at the local hospital. They married on June 6th, 1970, in Canada. In 1971, the family moved overseas, settling in Australia, where Marisha spent many cherished years raising her children. After divorcing in 1998, she returned to Canada to be closer to her roots.
Marisha was an avid gardener who found joy in nurturing her plants and engaging in enthusiastic conversations with everyone she met. She had a deep love for animals and spent many years caring for her beloved dog, Charlie. In her later years, Marisha continued to care for friends and relatives, embodying her nurturing spirit.
Marisha is survived by her son Shaun (Susan) of Miramichi, NB, and daughter Tanya (Gerhard) of Dubai, UAE. She also leaves behind her twin granddaughters, Sasha and Stella Perrett, her brother John Strelaeff (Sherry), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Paul Strelaeff (Laura).
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Talerico Place for their exceptional care and concern during Marisha’s time there following a stroke in 2021.
