He is survived by his wife Maureen and their four children Yolanda (Alex), Eric (Kim), Sylvia (Earl), and Fiona (Randell), 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Ebbel was the third child of Uiltje and Willemke Kampen, born in Haulerwijk, in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands. On August 5, 1955, Ebbel married Maureen (Wietske Leentje) de Boer. After some years in Amsterdam, Ebbel and the family moved to Sneek, Friesland, where they owned a grocery store. In 1970, the family immigrated to Canada, living for a year in Toronto before moving to Orangeville, where he owned a fish and chips store. This was followed by some years in Guelph, where he owned another fish and chips store, and Burlington, where he became manager of a furniture store. Upon retirement, Ebbel and Maureen moved to Vernon. In April 2022, they moved to Manoah Manor in Langley.
As family, we note with thankfulness that after a long and blessed life, he finished the race of faith, having kept the faith, and has now received the crown of righteousness obtained for him by his Saviour, Jesus Christ.
