Douglas Tober Obituary
Douglas Lyle Tober, known affectionately as “Concrete Louie”, passed away on August 9th, 2024, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, at the age of 77. Born on December 18, 1946 in Edmonton, Alberta, Doug was revered for his dedication and craftsmanship as a cement finisher, leaving a lasting legacy through his work across many communities.
Doug was a man of many interests, including ski-dooing and poker rallies in his younger years, and always hunting, building and crafting something. He was an avid reader, often found with a Louis L’Amour book in hand, and cherished time spent with his family and beloved dog, Mitsy. His creations and projects were a testament to his skill and creativity, impacting all who knew him.
Doug will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Tami, Karen, Connie and Shelley; sons-in-law Brad, Randy, Jim and Sean; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as many cherished friends and relatives. Doug will be greatly missed for Sunday morning coffees and impromptu dinners at Jonny and Erica’s.
A service to honor Doug’s life will be held at Wiesenthal Baptist Church, located at 48175 Rng Rd 253 – Leduc County, on Friday, August 23, 2024, at 11:00 am. A small luncheon will follow in the attached hall.
The Wiesenthal Baptist Church, Pastor Stephen and Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin, are assisting with the arrangements.
Doug’s life and work will be remembered fondly by all who knew him and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
