Doris Pauline Peterson
1942 ~ 2023
Doris Pauline Peterson, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on October 4th, 2023, at the age of 81. Born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, on September 26, 1942, she spent her early years on a farm north of Gwynne, Alberta, where her love for the land and sense of community grew.
Doris was a dedicated mother to her three children, Carleen (Kevin), Cameron (Claudette), and Chris (Cindy). She spent 30 years as an office manager for the B.C. Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Vernon, B.C., before embracing her passion for travel in retirement, visiting family across Canada.
A woman of deep faith, Doris was a faithful member of the Community Baptist Church. In 2020, she returned to her hometown of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, residing for 3.5 years at Madyson Manor and Good Shepherd Homes. Despite health challenges, she remained positive and grateful for the care she received.
Doris’s legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren, Tamara, Ryan, Spencer, Alexandre, Kayla, Mathias, Emilie, Michael, and Bronwyn, and her great-grandchildren, Brett and Noah. She is also survived by her sisters, Vera (Peter) and Lily (George), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor Doris’s life will be held at Baker Funeral Chapel in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, on Friday, October 13th, 2023, at 1:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Ebenezer Baptist Church (4730 51 Avenue, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, T9A 0T5) or the Good Samaritan Good Shepherd Lutheran Home (4702 Northmount Drive, Wetaskiwin, Alberta, T9A 3T3)
