Derek Berg Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Derek Berg on June 7, 2024. He was born in Ponoka, Alberta, on April 19, 1971. Derek grew up the eldest son of Colleen and Wensel Berg on the family farm just east of Ponoka. In 1990, Derek met the love of his life Vicki at Olds College, where he was studying mechanics. Together they began their life as a married couple in 1992. Derek was a proud father of his three children: Mitchell, Kaitlin, and Megan. He was an exceptionally hard worker, who took great pride in everything he did. Derek was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hiking. Another hobby included playing video games, especially the Legend of Zelda.
Derek is survived by his wife of 31 years, Vicki; three children, Mitchell (Harmony), Kaitlin, and Megan; parents Colleen and Wensel; siblings Lana (Jason), Anita, Mark (Krystal), and Brad (Nicole); brother-in-law Darren Diprose (Shelley); nephews Brandon, Justin, Corbin, Lucas, Garner, and Jackson; nieces Taya, Gillian, and Kendall; as well his father-in-law and mother-in-law Tom and Louise Diprose.
His Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Ponoka Funeral Home, where all are welcome to join us in honouring an incredible man.
