Alicia Iglesias Obituary
Alicia Soriano Vila was born on December 6, 1933, to Edilberto Vila and Carmen Soriano in Lingayen, Philippines. She was the sixth child of ten siblings: seven boys and three girls.
At the age of 30 she married Salvador Ocampo Iglesias, on January 19, 1963. Alicia learned to sew and became an accomplished dress maker. Salvador and Alicia became the proud parents to Glynie Lumabi (Carlito Lumabi – deceased); Gener Iglesias (Erlinda Iglesias); Zenia Risto (Marvin Risto); Aldrine Iglesias (Eva Iglesias – deceased); Berlie Gonzales (Sonny Gonzales) and Juvy MacMaster (Trevor MacMaster).
Alicia had twenty one grandchildren: Glynie Iglesias Lumabi’s children: Carlyn Dreichel, Carina Patel, Jeffrey Lumabi, Hezron Molera, and Ernesto Molera; Gener Vila Iglesias’ children: Dene Anderson Iglesias, Edison Iglesias, Joseph Iglesias, Joven Iglesias, and Jessie Iglesias; Zenia Iglesias Risto’s children: Raymond Dale Risto and Jonathan Marvin Risto; Aldrine Vila Iglesias’ children: Saud Jamal Abdul, Alyssa Iglesias, Alvon Iglesias, Alex Iglesias, and Aila Iglesias; Berlie Gonzales’ children: Berson Gonzales, Jeric Gonzales, and Sehrra Gonzales and Juvy MacMaster’s child, Eaylah Lefebvre.
After many trials and good times in the Philippines, Salvador and Alicia moved to Canada on June 12, 1995 to be with their daughter, Zenia Risto. Alicia’s family were her pride and joy, and she loved them all very much.
On May 21, 2024, Alicia passed away suddenly at the Good Shepherd nursing home in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
A private celebration of life will be held.
