Walter Ward Obituary
Walter James (Jim) Ward was born November 20, 1959, in Calgary, Alberta at the General Hospital, he was the fifth child of Jerry and Ivy Ward. Jim is predeceased by both of his parents, his older brother Alvin Ward and older sister Marlene Stevenson. Jim has two remaining sisters: Sharon Korhonen and Peggy Arnold. He also leaves behind his only child, his beloved daughter Della Eveleigh Ward.
Jim began working at a young age for Gregg Percival, where he remained employed for over 30 years, as a farm and ranch hand. In his younger years when he had extra time, he would bounce at Dusty’s Saloon in downtown Calgary, he loved the entertainment. He was known by patrons to mix beer, tomato juice and a single raw egg together and drink it out of his boot. Why? I don’t think anyone really knew but people absolutely loved it! Most recently Jim was employed by Jean and Terry Theissen as a welder.
Throughout the course of his life, he developed many passions and hobbies, including attending the rodeo at Wyndham Park in Carseland, fishing, hunting, and taxidermy, which he spent many hours at and if you’ve ever been to his home, you know he took great pride in his work. Among the rest of his hobbies, he loved to two step and would burn up the dancefloor with his boots and wirey legs!
Jim has some amazing life long and newly made friends and a family that he adored greatly. He would never hesitate to spend time with family when he could; spending many springs and falls helping to plant and harvest the veggies from the family garden, teaching his nieces and nephews to shoot a shotgun (so they could shoot gophers), and how to fish (so he could convince them to take out their eyeballs).
Jim was never one to sit around and be lazy, show weakness, or complain. He was stubborn with a big heart, as all the Wards are and were. He will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.
