John was born in Little Red River Cree Nation on June 12, 1947. He was a proud member of his band and a strong advocate for all band members and all Indigenous people of Turtle Island. He loved the outdoors especially spending time in Mitsue with his wife Emily and welcomed out any of their family members and friends that wanted to join them. John was incredibly skilled and knowledgeable in so many different areas which was highlighted throughout his career as a heavy equipment operator, machine operator and oil field services contractor. He had numerous interests and hobbies which included hunting, fishing, trapping, attending pow wow’s, picking berries, bird watching, watching the Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Blue Jays, listening to his favorite music by artists such as Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty and Johnny Cash, maintaining and repairing absolutely anything that needed fixing from vehicles to home renovations. He was never afraid to tackle what he didn’t know and was always there to lend a helping hand to others.
John was loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He always had a hug, a wink, a smile and so much love to give to everyone. John’s laugh, the twinkle in his eye when he would share his stories and the unconditional love he had for all will be missed more than is possible to put into words.
~Forever in our hearts.
