Gary’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the Wolstenholme family announces the death of Gary Edward Wolstenholme of Slave Lake on December 6, 2023 at his farm that he and his family cherished so dearly.
He was born on July 27, 1951, to Wilson and Gwen (Pollard) Wolstenholme in Edmonton but moved to Smith in 1954 where the family took up mixed farming and continues to farm in various capacities.
He worked in various forest products manufacturing related jobs beginning in Smith with Federated Co-op, then Spray Lakes Sawmills in Cochrane before finally settling in Slave Lake, where he retired in 2015 from Slave Lake Pulp.
He enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper. He was a genuine family man that loved his entire family deeply and was especially fond of his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his wife Teresa, children: Scott (Chaneen), Kirk (Christine), Shawn (Marissa), Terri-Ann (Casey Bruyns), and grandchildren: Remi, Nova, Marli, and Tiffany.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Gwen, and brother, Ray.
A celebration of life will be held on January 6, 2024 from 11am-2pm at the Smith Community Complex (Hall).
A memorial scholarship for students graduating from high school with an interest in the outdoors is being set up. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to this legacy by speaking with a family member or e-mailing garywolstenholmescholarship@gmail.com.
