Alex Lance Amon passed away at the age of 82 after a long battle with cancer.
Lance was predeceased by his father, Alex, and his mother Audrey (nee Kennedy), his brother Mike, and his sister Patricia.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Lois, his daughter Cory (Derek), and stepdaughters Melanie (Ray) and Lisa (Jeff) as well as his grandchildren Kendall, Tanner, Webber, Jessica, Jared, Melissa, Olivia, and great grandsons Bowen and Griffen.
Lance is survived by his brother Steve (Jackie), and his sister-in-law Jean.
Lance started his career in the army and went on to work for Canada Post; however, he spent the majority of his career with Edmonton transit, driving bus and LRT for 23 years. He earned a safe driving award every year for 21 years. He retired for a short time, but returned to serving his community as a SCAT bus driver in Sherwood Park where he provided safe and compassionate driving service to people with all sorts of disabilities for 17 years.
Lance was easy to talk to and could make anyone feel at ease in his presence. He was quick to make people laugh and loved talking about many things especially football and hockey. In his earlier years, Lance really loved vacationing in Ontario with his family. He had a great time socializing with his neighbors at Summit Pointe for the latter years of his life.
Lance was also very fond of his cat Rosie, and she misses him a great deal.
At Lance’s request, a memorial service will not be held. His family had a small private gathering to honour his memory.
