Mrs. Trudy Sheila Mottern passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the age of 71 years. Trudy was the third of four daughters born to Albert and Sheila Johnson of Ghost Pine Creek, Alberta on November 5, 1952. Trudy started her schooling at Sarcee Butte School and completed her education at Three Hills School. There, she met the love of her life, Bob. They were married on August 3, 1974 at Knox United Church in Three Hills, Alberta. Together, they made their life in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Their daughter, Shawna was born on May 4, 1975 and their son, Steven was born on June 15, 1978. They lived in Fort McMurray until Bob’s retirement in 2008. They then moved to Sylvan Lake, Alberta where Trudy resided until her passing. Trudy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Bob Mottern, her son, Steven (Kim) Mottern, her daughter, Shawna (Ryan) Pliska, and her grandchildren, Paige, Halee and Noah Mottern-Dobson and Nolin Pliska. Trudy will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Linda (Fabio) Maschio and Rita (Dave) Hicks, her mother-in-law, Irene Mottern, her sisters-in-law, Alice (Pat) Shea and Karen (Vern) Clarkson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Trudy was predeceased by her parents, Alberta and Sheila Johnson, her sister, Patricia Varnes, and her in-laws, Bud and Bertha Mottern. A Celebration of Trudy’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Trudy’s honor may be made directly to the Alberta SPCA at www.albertaspca.org.
