Ruth Jean Hutzkal of Red Deer, Alberta passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2024 at the age of 68 years. Ruth was born on May 20, 1956, in Regina, Saskatchewan and was raised in Leroy, Saskatchewan. In 1963, Ruth and her family moved to Calgary, Alberta, and then to Edmonton, Alberta, in 1966. Ruth then went on to live in Bowden, Alberta, Lacombe, Alberta and eventually, Red Deer, Alberta. Ruth graduated from Red Deer College in 1996, where she received her Social Working Diploma. She then went on to work at the Youth Employment Centre and Parkland Class in Red Deer. Ruth also fostered children during this time. Ruth was also a Board Member on the Red Deer Indigenous Dance Troupe. In her spare time, Ruth loved playing sports like softball and bowling. As an adult, she was an AAA Basketball Player. Ruth’s favorite thing in life was camping and sitting around a campfire with her family and friends. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her parents, George and Doris Inglis, her sons, Derek (Chelsea) Hutzkal of Clive, Alberta and Curtis Hutzkal of Red Deer, Alberta, her daughter, Amie (Tony) Hutzkal of Kelowna, British Columbia, her nine grandchildren and her one great grandchild. Ruth will also be sadly missed by her brother, Ken Clarke of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. A Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium.
