GAUTHIER, Michel
1956 – 2024
Mr. Michel Alain Gauthier of Prince Rupert, British Columbia passed away unexpectedly at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, November 22, 2024 at the age of 68 years. Michel was born in Alma, Quebec on September 9, 1956. In 1981, he decided to move to Alberta and started working in the Butcher Trade. After years of working in Retail Grocery, while doing on farm slaughtering, he decided it was time to go out on his own and he started his own Butcher Shop in Barrhead, Alberta. Michel loved to go out to the farms and chat up a storm with his customers. In late 2011, Michel closed his business in Alberta and moved his equipment to Prince Rupert, British Columbia. All because he went on a fishing trip and fell in love with the area. Fishing was one of Michel’s favorite pastimes and it was always a laugh watching him talk to the fish, while reeling them in. Michel was very passionate about meat cutting and making the best sausage and jerky. He was always ready to give advice to customers on cuts of meat and how to cook them. His Beef on a Bun was like no other. In April 2022, it was time for Michel to retire and enjoy some relaxation, moving to his summer getaway along the Skeena River. His love of warm weather took him to his favorite hotspot, Puerto Vallarta. He was able to enjoy spending the winter relaxing in the sun. Michel was always the happy guy ready to make you laugh and talk your ear off. He had a big heart and liked everyone. Michel will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lesley; his children, Bonnie (Gerhard) of Barrhead, Jacob (Sarah) of Legal, Jonathan (Alison) of Edmonton, Alexandra of Fort Saskatchewan, Terrance (Searra) of Kelowna, British Columbia, Billie Jo of Merritt, British Columbia and Annika (Dalton) of Blackfalds; his fourteen grandchildren and his two great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his brothers, Dominique (Mona) Jean Marc, and his sister, Candide; as well as numerous family members and dear friends. Michel was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Clemence; his brothers, Real (Nicole), Gerald (Susanne), Bernard (Christian), Rejean (Lisette), Gervais, Levis (Paquerette), and Jacinth. If desired, Memorial Donations in Michel’s honor may be made directly to the Edmonton Stollery Children’s Foundation at www.stollerykids.com. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. Arrangements in care of Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer. 403.340.4040.
