It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ms. Heather Bauer of Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the age of 80 years. Heather was born in Rotherham, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, and immigrated to Canada in 1956, settling in Edmonton. Heather was a very strong and independent woman who lived on her own terms, perhaps a legacy of her Yorkshire roots. She loved her family, the Toronto Blue Jays, a good cuppa and quilting. Always skilled in needlework and sewing, Heather taught herself to quilt after her retirement, and she produced beautiful quilts, and heirlooms for those lucky enough to be the recipient of one. Heather will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jody Peck (Ken) of Edmonton and Jamie Larratt (Shon) of Red Deer. Heather, also known as ‘Gram’ will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Josh Larratt (Michaela Nielsen) of Red Deer, Emily Larratt of Red Deer, Laura Kinsella (Steve Jubb) of Morden, United Kingdom and Vicky Butler (Michael Kleynhans) of Sutton, United Kingdom, and by her great grandchildren, Connor, Liam, Ellen, Charlotte and Abigail. She will also be sadly missed by Jody and Jamie’s dad, Wilbert Bauer, as well as many dear friends. If desired, Memorial Donations in Heather’s honor may be made directly to a Charity of the donor’s choice. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
