Mrs. Gwendalene ‘Gwen’ Fischer passed away in Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at the age of 80 years. Gwen was born on July 22, 1943, in Clyde, Ontario. She then moved to Alberta, where she resided with her family for forty-two years. Gwen was a very artistic lady, and she won many ribbons for her porcelain dolls. Not only was she talented at making her dolls, but she was an oil painter, and enjoyed painting people and landscapes. Every piece of art she touched was a true masterpiece. Gwen had a very large heart when it came to her family, and friends, and she loved her Savior Jesus Christ. During her years in Alberta, she spent most of her time out on the farm, where she did phenomenal baking, extraordinary cooking, where she entertained guests, and where she could just be herself. Gwen will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Gerry Fischer; her son, Tim Fischer (Tannis) of Edmonton; her daughter, Barbara Cousins of Red Deer; her grandson, Shawn (Paola) Shanks; and her great granddaughters, Maia, and Kayla. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Jean Steele of Red Deer, and Elizabeth Eastwood of Federal Way, Washington. Gwen was predeceased by her parents, Stephen, and Jane Hewitt; her siblings, Norm (Verna) Hewitt, Ruth (Harvey) White, Eunice Gold, Steve (Betty) Hewitt, Jim Hewitt, Isobel Hart, Barbara Mitchell, and Gracie Hewitt. A Celebration of Gwen’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
