It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Christina Lee Johnston (nee Herder) of Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the age of 56 years. Christina passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Those that knew Christina knew she lived life meaningfully, and with impact. She was loved by many, but especially by her grandchildren, Sutton, Kamdyn and Brooke.
Christina took pride in making a difference in the lives of young children and went above and beyond planning for the families at Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre. When she wasn’t working at Aspire, she was often found hanging out with her grandchildren, partaking in another exciting weekend adventure. She took such delight being around her people. She was simply the best.
Christina will be lovingly remembered by her partner, Carla Meyers (Emma, Theo, Jonah); her children, Alannah Young (Aaron Young), Landen Johnston (Rachele Gould), Mathew Johnston (Meghan Sinclair) and their father, Steven Johnston (Cora). Christina will forever live on through her grandchildren, Sutton Young, Kamdyn Young and Brooke Johnston. She will also be lovingly remembered by her parents, Betty and Glen Tisdale (Tony, Shawn, Gin, Kelly and their families) and her sister, Jill Herder (Brett, Brayden and their families).
A Come and Go Memorial Celebration will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, March 11, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. All those wishing to say goodbye to Christina are welcome to attend. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Christina’s honor may be made directly to Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre at www.aspirespecialneeds.ca.
