GOODWIN-BAIBOROUGH, Barbara
1935 –2024
It is with deep sadness that the family of Mrs. Barbara Goodwin-Bainborough of Red Deer, Alberta announces her peaceful passing at Taylor View Towers, Red Deer on Monday, January 1, 2024 at the age of 88 years. Barbara was born in 1935 at Portage La Prairie, Manitoba to Florence (nee Greenwood) and Henry Hay. Barbara then moved to Kenora, Ontario to work as a Ward Matron at a Residential School. While there, she met Ronald Goodwin who was a teacher there. The following year, Barbara and Ronald moved to Edmonton, married, and had their three children, Lisa, Laurena, and David. Barbara and Ronald divorced later in life. While working as a Nurses Aide in the Lethbridge Hospital, Barbara met a doctor by the name of Arthur (Ray) Bainborough. Barbara fell in love with Arthur, and they soon married. Barbara was a vibrant, friendly, and giving person. She was very involved in the Royal Purple Organization and worked her way up to Honored Royal Lady and District Deputy. She was a strong supporter of the Keep In Touch program, and volunteered many hours in support of her church. She truly believed in her family, and she will be deeply missed. Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Lisa Keshen of Red Deer, and Laurena Cox of Edmonton; her three grandchildren, Jessie, Kayla, and Steven; and her two great grandchildren Ryker, and Rayne. Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Arthur, and her son, David Goodwin. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
