It is with broken hearts that the family of Mrs. Audrey Dorothy Willmer of Red Deer, Alberta announces her passing on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the age of 91 years. Born and raised in Vermilion, Alberta, Audrey attended the Royal Alexandra Hospital School of Nursing in Edmonton. She remained in contact with her classmates and never failed to attend her reunions when circumstances allowed. Audrey served as the Director of Nursing for the Elk Point Hospital for several years. After marrying her love, Marvin, in 1954, they settled on the family farm near Derwent, Alberta where they raised their family. Sometimes by trial and error, Audrey became a great cook, and you could always count on fresh bread for Sunday dinners.
Audrey was Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter in Elk Point. She had a fondness for cats, but her favorites will always be “Boots” and “Misty”.
Audrey will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Dana (Karin) Willmer of Vancouver, Kim (Judy) Willmer and Trevor Willmer, all of Calgary; her grandchildren, Luca (Cosette) Willmer, Christopher (Raelyn) Willmer, Daniel Willmer; Chelsea (Josh) Crane; and her great grandchildren, Ava, Corbin and Lilly.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Willmer, and her parents, Tom and Dorothy Watts.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations in Audrey’s honor may be made directly to Whisker Rescue Red Deer at www.whiskerrescue.com or to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, Patient Transportation Fund at www.shrinerschildrens.org. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later time. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
