Derwin Parenteau Obituary
Derwin Parenteau passed away suddenly after complications from a broken hip, at the Grande Prairie Hospital, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the age of 76 years.
Derwin is the eldest son (twins) of Ambroise and Evelyn (Price) Parenteau. He was born August 13, 1947 in Berwyn, Alberta. He was raised on the Paddle Prairie Metis Settlement. He started elementary school in Paddle Prairie and finished later grades at Northland School Division Grouard campus. He completed grade 10. From then on he worked very hard in road construction mostly. He worked for many companies over the years including; Parenteau Sawmill (his first job) McMillan Construction, Caribou Construction, Estabrook Construction, Dechant Construction, and Moffat Construction. Derwin was married and divorced early on and had one daughter Lee Parenteau. He married and divorced again later on. Finally, he met the love of his life, Emma Goodswimmer and they were very happy together until her sudden passing February 19, 2016.
Derwin was pre-deceased by his Mother, Cora Evelyn Parenteau, Step-Mother, Elspeth Parenteau, Twin-brother Daryl Parenteau, and his Common-law wife Emma Goodswimmer.
He is survived by his daughter Lee Madden (Ron), Grandsons Waylon & Reno Madden. Father, Ambroise Parenteau. Siblings Calvin (Bev) Parenteau, Wendy Patton, Heather (Leonard) Scott, Lawrence Parenteau, Linda (Glen) Paul, Corrine Card, and Trevor Parenteau.
Derwin’s graveside service will be held on Friday, November 24 at 12:00 noon at the Keg River Community Cemetery where he will be laid to rest near his Mother Evelyn, these were his final wishes. Derwin’s family would like to thank the Heritage Towers Staff in Peace River for his care over the past 9 months. We were happy to have him back home where he had regular family visitors with special care from his younger sister Wendy, she took care of all of his affairs and tended to whatever his needs were.
Rest easy Derwin, you’re now with Mom, Elsie, your twin brother Daryl and your sweetie Emma.
