Dennis’ Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Gilbert Thibault on Nov. 6, 2023 at his home in 5-Star, he was 75 years young. Dennis was one of 16 siblings, he was born on Aug. 31, 1948, in McLennan, AB; he shared his birthday with his twin brother, Henry Thibault, who predeceased him in 2010.
In 1967 Dennis met Fern at a school open gym, where they played badminton some evenings. They dated for 3 years, and married in 1970. Together they had 4 sons, Kevin, Jason, Dennis Jr., and Robbie. The family was busy with Dennis coaching a variety of his sons’ athletics, he played hockey, jointly owned ViDen’s (local grocery and hardware store in McLennan), actively cut meat for the store, and was a volunteer Firefighter for many years.
Dennis was a vibrant man, he loved his family above all else; Dennis cherished when his whole family would gather together. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, hunting, sitting around a campfire, and doing a number of things with and for his grandchildren.
Dennis Gilbert Thibault is survived by his loving wife Fern, devoted children Kevin (Lana), Jason (Celine), Robbie (Genevieve) and his 7 grandchildren, Niko, Taylor, Julien, Isabelle, Kye, Milla and Alexandria. Dennis adored his numerous nieces and nephews, time spent with them was always treasured.
It will be Dennis’ kindness that he will be most remembered for; he was always willing to lend a helping hand, fix something, or offer his meat cutting talent to whomever was successful during hunting season. Dennis was generous, fun loving, hard working, welcoming, and had a big heart.
The impact Dennis had on each person who interacted with him, will live on. The help we extend to others, the kindness we spread, the generosity in helping others, the reflective moments around a campfire: Dennis will forever be present within us.
A (reception) celebration of Dennis’ life will take place on Nov. 19 at the Club Alouette, 11:00-2:00. In honoring his memory, we invite friends and family to gather and share the stories and memories that made Dennis the extraordinary man he was.
