Bill’s Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bill Schamehorn on August 1st in Manning, Alberta, at the age of 71.
Bill was born on November 4, 1952 in Manning. He was raised on the family farm in Notikewin, the third of four children and eldest son. After completing high school, he continued to help on the farm working several jobs in the down season.
In 1973, while working in Grande Prairie, he was involved in a workplace accident that left him with a life-altering brain injury. After physically recovering, he went on to complete three years of bible school in Edmonton, Alberta, helping on the farm during the summers. He eventually took over the family farm with his brother in the late 1970s.
He met Teresa Allen, a nurse in Manning, in 1980. They married in 1981, renovating the farm house in 1982. Their first son Timothy arrived the same year. Their second son, Philip, followed one year later and a third son, Reuban, came along in 1985. Over the next 20 years Bill raised his family and continued to operate the farm. In the mid 2000s he began renting the land. Bill continued to reside on the farm spending his time helping neighbors, maintaining the acreage, playing crib and having coffee with friends or anyone in need of company.
Bill is predeceased by his parents William and Myrtle. He will be forever remembered by his wife Teresa, sons Timothy (Leslie), Reuban (Amy), Philip, siblings Norma (John), Mable (John) and Leonard (Eunice), and grandchildren Soleil, Jack, Collin, Emerson, Ava, and Wynn
A Funeral Service will be held on August 4th at 2:00 p.m. from the Manning Family Worship Centre.
