Smaragdi “Smara” Ginakos (née Tzitzoglakis)
September 26, 1953 – October 28, 2024
Smaragdi “Smara” Ginakos was a remarkably strong and inspiring woman whose spirit touched the lives of many. She peacefully passed away on October 28, 2024, after a courageous 36-month battle with cancer, far surpassing the initial prognosis of just seven months.
Smara was known for her unwavering devotion to her family and her deep Christian Orthodox Faith. A kind soul with many admirable qualities, she was selfless and always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her beauty radiated from within, shining through her infectious smile and positive attitude, even in the most challenging times.
In her nurturing and loving nature, Smara found joy in cooking and baking, delighting everyone around her. Her home was a haven where no one ever left with an empty stomach. Her grandchildren especially cherished her thoughtful deliveries of baked goods and treats, which were infused with her love.
Smara was a true treasure to all who knew her, a lost gem whose warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched.
Smara is survived by her devoted husband, Peter, and their sons: Nick (Kari), Christopher (Nicole), Angelo (Tracy), and Alexander, and her Sister Georgia (Theodore). She is also lovingly remembered by her cherished grandchildren: Nickolas, Sophia, Luke, Evangeline, Alexandra, Isabella, Zoe, Peter, and her numerous Cousins, Nieces and Nephews.
Smara will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at Serbian Orthodox Church.
