April 16, 1941 ~ December 12, 2024
Henry Charles Schlitt, age 83, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Sharron Schlitt, devoted father to Rod and Deanna (Ken & Deanna Siemens), and a cherished grandfather. He had six siblings who were best friends their entire lives.
Born in 1941, Henry built a life founded on hard work, family, and faith. His journey began in Prince George, where he ran a dry-cleaning business before moving on to work as a steam and gas fitter in Fort St. James and Williams Lake. Throughout his career, Henry was known for his skill, dedication, and unwavering work ethic. He retired in 2006, but his passion for life and helping others never slowed.
In his golden years, Henry devoted his time to his family, friends, and giving back to his community. A true outdoorsman, his greatest loves were hunting and fishing, and his home was filled with photos and mounted trophies that told stories of countless adventures. Henry’s love of nature and his zest for life were only matched by his kindness and sense of humor, which left a lasting impression on all who met him.
Whether he was fixing vehicles with his grandchildren, volunteering at church, or assisting a neighbor in need, Henry was always ready to lend a hand. His selflessness and willingness to serve others will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Henry’s life was a testament to love, dedication, and service. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held in the spring to celebrate Henry’s life and legacy. Condolences may be sent to henry.schlitt.ca
