Obituary of Marjorie Thompson
It is with profound sadness that the family of Marjorie (Bain) Thompson announce her peaceful passing on November 24, 2023, at the age of 85.
Marjorie was born January 10, 1938, to Cleo Madge (Winchester) Bain (1917 – 1941) and James Cameron Bain (1903 – 1954) as Marjorie Mae Cecelia Bain. She had an older brother, Wayne, who sadly passed 2015-2016. After the passing of her Mother Cleo, James married Rolande Mary Mericer. They had three daughters, Yvonne Joy (September 3,1946), Heather Kathleen (October 21, 1949), and Patricia Iris Lydia (March 17, 1951). Patty sadly passed May 5, 2022.
June 19, 1956, she married Oren Robert Beane. They had five children, Oren Micheal (August 23, 1956), Ivan Wade (July 1, 1957, passed July 14, 1957), Rory Philip (August 12, 1959), Patrick Robert (July 4, 1960, passed July 4, 1960), Kelly Ann (February 1, 1962), Jefferson James Lee (February 3,1964), Timothy Shane (February 9, 1965).
Marjorie and Oren were divorced in 1972.
October 18, 1973, Marjorie married Buddy Norman Roderick Thompson (February 7, 1935). Marjorie had first met Bud in Wrentham when she was 16 following the death of her father. Marjorie and Bud took a vacation to BC after they married, and it was a trip that they both remembered very well. They loved each other very, very much. Bud would make her paper flowers and she would give him funny cards.
In the following years they purchased “The Farm” from Bud’s Parents and made their home there.
Marjorie found a love of gardening and flowers and started a greenhouse business. She became quite creative with decorating Bud’s woodworking, and she invested into ceramics where she loved creating special art pieces.
In May 1983 they suffered a devasting fire that took everything except the house. They rebuilt and called it PhoenixFarm.
In 1986 grand children started to arrive, these events brought much joy to Marjorie.
As years progressed both Marjorie and Bud had health issues develop but they both got through with each other and carried on.
In late October of 2020 Marjorie’s health issues became much more pronounced. In March of 2021 she was transferred to Extendicare in Viking, Alberta where she was to reside until her passing.
A celebration of life for Marjorie will be held later, during her very favorite time of year, in the spring of 2024.
The family would like to thank Extendicare Viking, Alberta for their care and compassion in taking care of Marjorie.
I would also like to thank Fee and Sons Ltd for their kind help and support during this difficult time.
