Irene Hazel Garies Obituary
With sorrow we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mom died peacefully at the High River Hospital Long Term Care.
Mom was born is Swift Current, Saskatchewan where her family farmed north in Leinan. She met her husband Robert (Bob) who farmed in the Stewart Valley area. They were married in 1943. After living in Swift Current, mom, dad and their two children Maureen and Ryan relocated to Calgary, Alberta in 1955. Mom was a very shy, soft spoken, beautiful lady who took great pride in her home, family, garden and her appearance.
She is survived by her daughter Maureen, Dean (Julie), Cory (Nicole) and Holly (Tad), son Ryan (Louise), Whitney (Neil) and great grandchildren Kristanna and Caden. Irene’s husband Bob passed away July 3, 2009 and youngest daughter Shari Passed sway January 16, 2012 at the age of 48.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the second floor, Long Term Care for their compassion and support to our mother the past two and a half years.
A funeral service and interment will be held on Vancouver Island (Parksville) at a later date. In lieu of flowers we invite you to send a charitable donation to the Canadian Down Syndrome Society (CDSS).
