It is with great sadness and shock that we announce the passing of Dorothy Schraa on Wednesday June 12th after her short battle with Cancer at the South Health Campus in Calgary.
Dorothy is survived by her dedicated husband Jasper (58), and two fantastic children Jordan (28) and Danelle (24 almost 25), Sid (her faithful cat), Sophie (the crazy dog she never wanted but ended up loving) and Sully (the cat who she had to have so Sid could have a friend). As well as many loving friends and family including her one and only sister Miriam.
Dorothy brought a light like no other into the world, her smile and personality impacted the lives of many students and colleagues alike throughout her career as an Educator. She leaves behind a legacy of love throughout the many School Divisions she worked at, especially Christ the Redeemer, LivingStone Range and Palliser School Division where she worked consistently throughout her many years as a teacher.
Dorothy had unstoppable faith and trust in God which shone through even in her last moments. Some of Dorothy’s favourite hobbies included praying, spending time with Jesus, planning lessons for her students, being with her beloved friends and playing Ticket to Ride with her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the High River Full Gospel Church on Sunday June 23rd at 2pm. No need to bring anything but yourself, your smile, and your stories. Dorothy loved pictures, please be prepared to take lots of pictures with one another.
Although Dorothy is no longer with us, her spirit will forever live on in the lives of those she touched all around her.
