Sam Mahan of High River, Alberta, passed away peacefully on October 6th, 2024, just after sunset at the High River Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Sam is survived by his partner of 25 years, Lori Symon; children, Rayane, Corre (Mike), and Brady (Jacqueline); and his grandchildren, Teagan, Jake, Cannon, Natalie, and Fin. He was predeceased by his mother, father, two sisters, and five brothers.
Sam was born in Arcola, Saskatchewan, on February 15, 1948 and moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan after his mother’s passing at eight years old.
He loved telling stories about his childhood in Arcola and Prince Albert with his family, and what it was like running in the hills of Arcola from sunrise to sunset.
Sam loved the game of football. He proudly told of the awards and medals he won in his senior year of high school and of the newspaper article published about him in the Prince Albert Herald.
Sam moved around a lot until he made his home in High River, in 1999. His favourite times of year were spring, to plant his garden, and fall so he could harvest it. He loved talking to people, listening to children, and building his life with Lori.
Sam worked hard for his whole life to provide for his family and finally retired in 2022. His family and lifelong friend F.A. were important to him. He will be remembered fondly by many people who knew him.
He will always be remembered by his partner and that he lived his life as he wanted with no regrets.
Sam you are my strength.
