Clifford was born in Rawtenstall in Lancashire, England on February 9th 1943, to his parents, Mary and Clifford Slater. As the 4th of 5 children, he had a happy childhood, growing up in a vibrant and bustling household where every corner was filled with the warmth of familial bonds during difficult times. He met the love of his life Ann Dust when he was 16 years old and they would eventually marry on April 27th, 1963 at St. James the Less Church in Rawtenstall.
