Allen David McCartney Obituary
Mr. Allen David McCartney, of High River, passed away on June 26, 2024 at the age of 88 years. Allen will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his children: Doug (Dayna) and their children Grace, Malcolm, Lauren and Austin; Julie (Roger) Benoit and their children Cody and Tara; Robin (Gord) Doran and their children Ryan and James and David (Tracy) MacDonald and their children Jeff and Tyler (deceased) and by his companion Sharon Riva. Allen was predeceased by his two wives Leslie McCartney in 1985 and Joanne Enloe in 2007, his brother Bill in 2009.
Allen was born at Hardisty, Alberta on August 6, 1935. He was a longtime resident of High River, where he ran McCartney Heating for many years. He then managed the residential division at Arpi’s Industries in Calgary prior to his retirement in 2000. Allen was very community minded, having spent time on the High River Town council as well being active with many other community organizations. For many years he coached or managed youth baseball, softball and hockey in High River. He was an avid golfer and was a longtime member of the Highwood Golf and Country Club. Above all else, Allen’s family was most important. He spent endless hours supporting his children and grandchildren in their various activities and accomplishments.
Allen was a great man, and he had a positive impact on countless people throughout his life. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, and his family will never forget him or his love, his kindness or his humour.
A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Allen will be laid to rest at the Highwood Cemetery.
