Obituary For Yvonne Semograd
July 21, 1957 – February 3, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Semograd. Yvonne passed away suddenly on February 3, 2024, in Grande Prairie Alberta at the age of 66.
Yvonne was born in Barnsley England to Stanley and Barbara Rawson and lived nearby in Cudworth until she was 14 years old. Yvonne and her family immigrated to the mining town of Grande Cache, Alberta in 1971 where she met her late husband, Dale. Yvonne and Dale went on to have three children and moved to various communities around Alberta and BC, finally settling in Wembley Alberta.
Yvonne had many jobs over the course of her lifetime including working in hotels, telecommunications, providing medical assistance in the field, to most recently over the last 10 years, working as a clinical assistant in a medical clinic. She had a passion for quilting and found peace in gardening and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel anywhere that had palm trees and pina coladas, but her happy place was travelling to Deal Kent in England. Yvonne was not only the matriarch of her family, but she was a friend, a mentor, a wife and the best mother and nanan anyone could ask for.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Nathen Semograd (Kellie), Christopher Semograd (Joanne) and Samantha Scott of Grande Prairie; her grandchildren Seren and Riley Scott; her brother Christopher Rawson, nieces Eirenne Reid and Lindsey Gill; her aunt, Patricia Rimington; and cousins Amanda and Paula Rimington; mother-in-law Olga Fullerton; sister-in-law Wendy Vass (Ray) and many other close family and friends. Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Dale Semograd, and parents Stanley and Barbara Rawson.
A private Service will be held at Sulpher Gates, In Grande Cache Alberta at a later date.
