December 22, 1959 – October 4, 2024
With heavy hearts we have to announce the passing of our wonderful Mother, Daughter, Sister, Auntie and Grandma; Tami.
Tami was born on December 22nd, 1959 in Edmonton, Alberta to Patricia and Milton Hommy. She is the eldest and only girl with three Brothers. In her early life, the family moved to Grande Prairie in 1964. Tami’s formal schooling was all in Grande Prairie. Tami graduated the Grande Prairie Composite High School. Tami had many career jobs, musician teacher at the Grande Prairie Regional College as a beginner saxophone instructor for alto and soprano, bank teller, to her final job of 30 years as an Educational Assistant at the Beaverlodge Elementary School.
Tami had a passion for travel with family and friends, family camping and outings with the trailer. She was involved with the development of Hommy Park. A passion of Tami’s was her crocheting many baby blankets, lap blankets as gifts. She hosted many family gatherings, brunches and suppers. Family was her whole life, especially her boys Joel, Adam and Jared. Tami was also a cat Mom.
Tami will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she be remembered for the joy she brought to others and not the sadness of her passing.
Tami is survived by her son Adam (Renee) and their children Maddie and Saydee, her son Jared, her parents Milton and Patricia Hommy, brothers Lance (Karen) and Adair (Mindy), nephew Ryley (Reagan) and their children Daxtyn, Korben, Pheonix and Hailey, niece Haley (Brian) and their children Mila and Bennett, niece Lisa and her children Cole and Kade, father-in-law Otto Sterkenburg, brother-in-law Rene (Irene) and their children Derek (Allana) and Stacey (Jamey), brother-in-law Paul (Judy) and their children Amy (Orin), Matthew (Cheryl) and Nathan (Janae), sister-in-law June (Barry) and their children Mitchell (Edna) and Michael (Katherine), brother-in-law Tim (Sue) and their children Teanna (Kyle) and Jayk as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Tami was pre-deceased by her oldest son Joel, husband Ron, brother Troy, mother-in-law Hanny Sterkenburg, brother-in-law Barry Forgie.
A celebration of Tami’s life will be held on Saturday, October 19th, 2024 at the Beaverlodge Elementary School (1009 5th Avenue in Beaverlodge, Alberta) at 1:00pm.
