Obituary For Mary Santa
December 17, 1931 – March 24, 2024
At the age of 92, Mary passed away on March 24, 2024, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. Mary, the eldest daughter of Walter and Margaret Zolkewski , was born in Thorhild, Alberta. Most of Mary’s life was spent in the Grimshaw and Berwyn area. However, upon the retirement of her husband, George Santa, they moved to Grande Prairie to be closer to their children.
Mary enjoyed living with her son Gary (Karen) after her husband George passed away. She enjoyed having her daughter Charlene Ungstad (Roger), her three grandchildren, Ian Ungstad, Eric Ungstad (Joanna) and Andrea Kazakawich (Jonathan) living close by. She especially enjoyed visiting with her three great grandchildren, Mya, Hannah, and Eli Ungstad (Eric & Joanna).
Mary was well known for all the crocheting and knitting she did over the years. Her afghans and doilies are still in abundance in the homes of her family.
Mary will be dearly missed by her immediate family, her sisters Helen Hansen and Rose Wilton (Walter) and extended family members.
At Mary’s request, there will be no Celebration of Life. A private burial will take place at the Grande Prairie Cemetery.
