Obituary For Ken Klinger
February 7, 1969 – July 13, 2024
Ken peacefully exited this human experience on July 13, 2024, from a stroke. My love lived his life on his terms.
Ken passed away on July 13, 2024, at the age of 55, due to a stroke (unvaccinated). He was born in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, to Albert and Lillian Klinger. Ken grew up on his family’s farm, learning the intricacies of agriculture from his parents, grandparents, and uncles. He spent many hours with his brothers and sisters working the land and animals.
This early experience laid the foundation for his lifelong passion for farming and ranching.
Ken’s professional journey began at the Cargill elevator in Quill Lake, where he met Leann Wolff, who would become his partner for 32 years. In 1992, the couple relocated to Fort St. John, British Columbia, where Ken transitioned to driving fluid trucks in the oil industry.
In 1998, Ken and Leann moved to Grande Prairie and started his owner-operator business.
In 2007, Ken’s lifelong dream to own his own cattle ranch came to fruition.
For 17 years, the couple dedicated themselves to creating a nurturing environment for their livestock.
Ken, along with his godson Nathan Isaac, spent countless hours in the shop tackling many projects such as constructing panels and shelters for the animals. Ken loved teaching Nathan how to drive, maintain equipment, work the fields, and be compassionate with the animals. Ken’s work ethic and wisdom will live on in Nathan.
Summers were devoted to producing high-quality hay and straw for the ranch and his neighbors’ animals.
He cultivated a diverse network of friends and was always eager to help those in his life. His relationships with neighbors were particularly close, with older men treating him like a son, while he showed deep respect for women farmers, regarding them as sisters and grandmothers.
Ken’s friends often helped us with constructing haysheds, the shop, haying and landscaping. He always knew the right guy to call, and everyone was willing to help Ken. Each of them will be thanked by me personally over the next few months. Without their help, Ken’s dream would not have been such an integral part of the community.
Ken was known for his welcoming nature, often inviting people into his shop for a cold drink and a listening ear.
The shop was much more than just a shop. Ken and his friends were able to share deep conversations without any judgement. Those times were like therapy sessions for them all.
Living life on his own terms, Ken found joy in working the fields, managing calving season, and spending time with friends in his shop. His kind and compassionate heart and his never-ending work ethic left a lasting impact on his community, and he will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.
Our love story is not a rom/com. It was built on a grassroots respect for the roles we each brought into this union. Ken is a powerful energy and is guiding this process.
It is an injustice to sum up a life in a few short sentences. To those who knew his heart, he will be alive in yours forever.
Ken is survived by his partner Leann Wolff, mother Lillian Klinger, sisters Karen (Les) Treso and Gloria (Doug) Chambers, brothers Donald (Margo) Klinger, Kevin (Marcy) Klinger, Godson, Nathan Isaac and numerous nieces, nephews and God children.
Ken is predeceased by his dad Albert Klinger, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
No service will be held for Ken, in honour of his wishes.
In lieu of a life that was too short….remember to do what you love, honor your spouse, and love your kids. Put your time, money and attention into these aspects of life.
