Obituary For Jean Reeta Borgedahl

It is with heavy heart we announce the passing of Jean Borgedahl (Reeta Jean) on December 10, 2023, at the Grande Prairie Care Centre.
Jean was born December 28, 1930 to Esther and Lloyd Pack in Hommy, AB. Mom was raised on a farm just a few miles north of Beaverlodge, Alberta. She was one of four siblings, Lewis, Jean, Joyce, and Bertha
Mom married Paul Borgedahl (Dad) July 2, 1953. They then resided on a farm outside of Valhalla Centre AB. and were blessed with three children. A set of twins, Beverly, and Bernice (which was a surprise) and daughter Terry.
Mom attended school in Beaverlodge. The only way to get there was horse and sleigh. Of course, her brother Lewis was the driver. Mom often spoke of the cold and the rocks that had been put in the oven to warm and then put on the sleigh. Mom was a protector of others. It may also have something to do with her red hair. She beat up anyone who was picking on another. Mom, of course, worked on the farm. She was a good carpenter, having built the chicken house, chop house and was also instrumental in helping build the house. She was thrifty, always re-using anything she could. She even had a tobacco can that she labeled “Twisted Nails”, for reuse.
She leaves to mourn – 2 daughters Beverly (Harold), and Bernice (Mitch). grandchildren: Clinton, Scott, Kamille (Stephen), Pamela (Matt) and Nadine (Bill), Willis (Katrina) and Amanda (Jason).
She also leaves to mourn great grandchildren; Tiana (Clinton); Tanner, Bowden, Kirklynn, Luke (Scott); Hunter, Rogan, Addison (Kamille); Robert, (Pamela), Ash (Nadine) Calleigh, Damien (Willis) Jessica, and Jade (Amanda). Also left to mourn is her sister Joyce (Lewis and family), brother-in-law Levern Borgedahl, sister-in-law Gayle Borgedahl and sister-in-law Sydney Pack.
Jean was pre-deceased by her spouse, Paul Borgedahl in 2018, daughter Terry, mother Esther, father Lloyd, sister Bertha, brother Lewis, mother-in law Thora, father-in-law John, sister-in-law Ollie, and brother-in law Wendell.
All who knew Mom, (and I can vouch for that), knew that she was a hard-working woman with an “I can do anything I set my mind to”, attitude. Good thing Dad was the mechanic though.
There will be no funeral. There will be a family gathering with a date later to be decided. Donations can be made in Memory of Mom to a charity of one’s choice.
