Obituary For James “Tom” Thomas Duncan
James “Tom” Thomas Duncan resident of the County Of Grande Prairie, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at his home, at the age of 72 years.
Tom was born on July 23, 1951, at the Johanna Haakstad Maternity Home in smith, AB to parents James and Ella Duncan.
Tom was raised on the family farm and attended school in smith. He left school and fought wildfires in British Columbia, was a bricklayer in Edmonton, AB, and helped on the Joan Alward farm by Clairmont, AB.
Tom met and married Sandra in 1973. They moved to the farm in 1978. They raised five children: Bob, Tracy, Matt, Nicole, and Steven. Tom ran the family farm, worked at Canfor, and then on the rigs for over 30 years.
In 2023, Tom and Sandra celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren on the deck at their farm.
He will be sadly missed by his mother Ella Duncan; wife Sandra; son Bob and grandchildren: Colton, Skylar, Dakota, and Brooklyn; daughter Tracy Peterson and family: granddaughter Kelsey Revoy (Dan) and great-granddaughter Ella; son Matt (Tiffany) grandchildren: Weston and Autumn; daughter Nicole (Tyrel Ringguth) and grandchildren: Greyson, Darius, and Finley; son Steve (Rae Cook) and grandson Riggs; brother Donald; sisters: Norma, Margaret, Pat, Heather, Terry, and Bonnie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Tom was predeceased by his father James Duncan, sister Kathy Kohlman, and Kathy’s son Darcy.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 2:00 pm, at the Clairmont United Church (9905 100 Ave.) Clairmont, AB. A luncheon will follow.
