Obituary For Irene Elizabeth Reichert
June 8, 1941 – October 24, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irene Elizabeth Reichert on October 24th, 2024, at Grande Prairie Care Centre.
She was born in Grande Prairie on June 8th, 1941, and grew up in the Beaverlodge area where she attended Lower Beaverlodge School and then Beaverlodge Regional High School. She was the only daughter and middle child of Gustav and Elizabeth Pfau.
On November 7th, 1958, Irene married Eric Reichert. They began their married life in Prince George where their two children, Marvin and Janice, were born. A few years later, they moved back to their Beaverlodge homestead where they farmed together near Huallen.
Throughout the years, Irene was very involved with the Lutheran Church where she took part in the choir and the Ladies Lutheran League. While Eric farmed, Irene kept herself busy upkeeping her yard and gardens, sewing, and spending time with friends and family. The two of them also enjoyed travelling together. After Eric’s passing, Irene moved to the Amisk Lodge in Beaverlodge and then to the Grande Prairie Care Center.
Irene is survived by her children, Marvin (Cynthia) and his children Kaitlynn and Kalie, Janice (Robert) and their sons Robbie (Andrea) and Dallas (Shyann), great-grandchildren Andi and Dallon, great-granddaughter Oaklyn, as well as her brother Jack (Joyce) Pfau and many other nieces and nephews.
Irene is predeceased by her husband, Eric Reichert, her parents, Gustav and Elizabeth Pfau, and her brother, Gary Pfau.
The funeral will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wembley on Friday, November 1st, 2024, at 1:00 pm. There will be a viewing from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm.
