Obituary For Glen James Mayer
December 25, 1952 – October 13, 2024
We regret to inform you of the sudden passing of Glen James Mayer, beloved husband, father, and friend. Glen passed on October 13, 2024, at the age of 71.
Glen was a man of many hats. He was a man of travel, who got to see the world and experience so much adventure. He was a doting husband, who walked hand in hand through life with his greatest love, Gayle. He was also an outgoing man, who had the ability to make friends everywhere he went.
Glen’s greatest achievement in life was his children Katie and Wade, whom he loved endlessly. His son-in-law Josh became a son to him when he joined the family, and his pride and love grew to encompass him too. Glen was a true family man, who put those he cherished most, first.
Glen was an animal lover. His personality drew animals to him- after all, animals have the best sense of who is a good person. He had his own furry family members; his dogs and cat whom he loved tremendously. When not doting on his pets, you could often find Glen watching a hockey or football game, helpfully shouting at the refs for everything they missed.
Glen reunites with many beloved family members and friends, and his beloved dog Minny who crossed the Rainbow Bridge before him. He loved that dog beyond words, and we have no doubt she was waiting for him with a wagging tail.
Glen will be missed by his wife Gayle, who he spent 40 wonderful years with, his daughter Katie Mayer and her husband Josh Dyck, and his son Wade Mayer. Glen will also be missed by numerous other family members and friends, as well as anyone who had the honour of knowing him if only for a little while.
A Celebration of Life for Glen will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB.).
