Obituary For Gerald ‘Gerry’ Peter McNeill

February 18, 1939 – October 1, 2024
It is with heavy hearts; we announce the peaceful passing of Gerry McNeill on October 1, 2024, at the age of 85 at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and brother.
Born in Grande Prairie, raised in the Wembley area, Gerry continued to reside and work in the community he loved. At an early age he started driving truck, working for various companies such examples as Rod Streeper Trucking, Wapiti Gravel, DeWit Trucking making it a lifelong career. After many years of driving, he finished his career with Royal Camp Services, retiring in 2013. As he was never one to sit still, retirement didn’t last very long, so he took on a part time job delivering rental vehicles throughout Alberta and BC until 2019 when he finally retired at the age of 80. When he was not on the road, he enjoyed the outdoors camping, fishing, hunting, gardening with Viv and spending time with family and friends and his dearest Coco.
Left to cherish Gerry’s memory is his devoted wife, Vivian; his children Diane (Kevin) Stark, Gail (Derrin) Mynzak, Kevin (Tracy) McNeill, Sandra McNeill, Chad (Lynette) Kilba, Conrad (Toni) Kilba; grandchildren Kory, Carter, Caitlin, Josh, Cole, Brandon, Mason, Dakota, Caydin, Alexsandra, Emma, Parker, Alayna, Olivia, Emerson & Weston; great-grandchildren Ty, Blake, Isla, Tayden, Madden & Jameson. Brothers Duncan (Linda) McNeill, Howard (Britta) Olsen and Ronnie Cardnal; sisters Rosemarie (Mervin) Olsen, Kim Rowe (Harry). As well as many other close friends and family.
Gerry is predeceased by his mother Edna “Nana” (nee Squires) & Charlie Olsen and father Peter McNeill.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the GPRH ICU for the supportive and compassionate care provided to Gerry during his stay.
In accordance with Gerry’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Friends and family are encouraged to celebrate his life with cherished memories.
