Obituary For Frances “Toni” Antonia McKenzie
Frances Antonia McKenzie, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 75 years.
Antonia, ‘Toni’, was born on August 3, 1949, in Hythe, AB. Toni was the fourteenth child of Antoni and Marja Tolway. Toni was blessed with three children. Surviving her is daughter Jane (Reagan) Donley.
Toni enjoyed working as a camp cook, where she met George McKenzie. They were married and spent many good years together.
Toni’s unwavering faith carried her through the ups and downs in her life. Her home was filled with many reminders of God’s love for her. Her Bible was always open on the coffee table.
Toni enjoyed gardening and word search puzzles. The past summer was spent watering her flowers, especially sunflowers. While sitting on her “George” chair, on the deck watching the world go by.
With the friendship of Rosaire Trudel over the last fourteen years, Toni was able to spend time farming, harvesting, and planting on the farm. In the farming community she formed friendships, within the seniors and church fellowships.
Toni is survived by daughter, Jane (Reagan) Donley; sisters: Tina (Al) Heartt, and Madaline (Ken) Lawrence; and brother Joseph (Brigetta) Tolway. She will also be remembered by Misty Macrae, and Devon Macrae, together with their five children.
Toni was predeceased by husband George McKenzie; daughter Wanda Macrae in 1990, and son Jeff Macrae in 2015.
We would like to extend thanks to the Homecare team for their time and dedication to Toni over the years, as well as the staff at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital and to the ambulance drivers.
A Celebration of Toni’s Life will be held on Friday, December 13, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home with fellowship to follow.
