Obituary For Evelyn Helen Annette Frank
Evelyn Helen Annette Frank, resident of Pleasantview Lodge in Spirit River, AB, formerly a long-time resident of Silver Valley, AB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Spirit River, AB, at the age of 87 years.
Evelyn was born in Fairview, AB, to Arthur and Tilla Johnson, she was the middle child of five, and was raised on the family farm in Bluesky, AB. Once Evelyn finished school she moved to Bluesky, where she worked for three years at the Co-op Store. In 1958, Evelyn married the love of her life, Ben Frank, and together they had four children. In 1965 they moved permanently to the homestead in Silver Valley, AB, building the farm and raising their family. Evelyn was very involved in her community, belonging to the Silver Valley Community Club and Ladies Club and later the Savanna Ag Society. Family fun included ball games, local community picnics, fairs, curling at all the local arenas, and any other event that happened in the small community. Over the years Evelyn worked various jobs such as, extracting honey, working for Stats Canada, and finally in the office for a local construction company- all of which she thoroughly enjoyed. In 2008 Evelyn and Ben retired from the family farm, and settled in Rycroft, AB, where Evelyn enjoyed her yard, flowers and garden.
Evelyn always made sure there were snacks or food on the table for whomever would stop in for a visit. She loved her special time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were truly her pride and joy.
Evelyn was very crafty and artistic. She loved pottery, ceramics, crocheting, and once she moved to Pleasantview Lodge, the weekly paint classes were the highlight of her week.
Evelyn will be sadly missed by her children: Donna Hessler (Calvin). Doug Frank (Melanie), and Shelley Strauss (David); grandchildren: Melonie Zaichkowsky (Kyle), Nicole Heitrich (Craig), Shane Strauss (Sarah), Jamie Strauss (Braydon Zahara), Emma Frank and Lyle Frank; great-grandchildren: Linden and Alex Zaichkowsky, Jocelyn and Colin Heitrich, as well as Ben and Barrett Strauss; sister Betty Scharf (Dale); sister-in-law Sandra Johnson; brother-in-law Clarence Meidinger; sister-in-law Mathilda Frank; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was predeceased by husband, Ben Frank; parents Arthur and Tilla Johnson; daughter Sandra Frank; brother Gordon Johnson; and sisters Florence Homme and Colleen Meidinger.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Wolfaardt, Dr Funk and all the staff at Central Peace Health Complex for their compassion and care, as well as Pleasantview Lodge and Lakeview staff for all the care they provided.
A Memorial Service will be held in Evelyn’s honor on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie, AB (10005 107 Ave).
