Obituary For Donald Bruce Guy
May 24, 1938 – February 7, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Don Guy on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at the age of 85.
Don is survived by his children Calvin (Glenda) Guy, Holly (Ray) Holowaychuk and Evie (Jeff) Van de bennet, his grandchildren Justin, Joel, Kyle, Tate and Tia, great grandchildren Allyssa, Levi, Berlin and Simon, his stepchildren Delina Rissin, Sandy McMartin, David McMartin, 7 step Grandchildren, sister Bernice Beacock and many loved nieces and nephews.
Don was predeceased by his wife Priscilla Guy, parents Horace and Laura Guy, brother Garnet (Mable) Guy, brothers Frances and Harold Guy, sister Vernette (Douglas) Smith, granddaughter Ashley Holowaychuk and Father and Mother-in-law, Ken and Margaret Heywood.
Don was born on May 24, 1938, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, not far from Parkbeg where he grew up. He worked on the Canadian Pacific Railway and later as a milkman. He met his wife Betty Lawson in Moose Jaw and together they raised three children. They made their way to Red Deer, Alberta where Don began selling for Lowney’s Company. He soon transferred to Grande Prairie where he went on to work for Heinz and Nestle’s Companies as well.
Don was and excellent salesmen and enjoyed the people he met along the way. He was also a long-time member of ACT (Associated Canadian Travelers).
Being an outdoorsman and hunter led Don and Betty to buy a farm in Crooked Creek, Alberta. He loved to bird hunt with his beloved dog Satin at his side. It was the perfect spot for family gatherings and lots of good memories were made there.
Although Don and Betty both went on to remarry, they remained close friends. He then met his second wife Priscilla McMartin and spent many happy years on the farm together.
Eventually selling, they made their way to Lethbridge, Alberta where they ran a successful business in candy sales.
Retirement brought Don and PJ back to Grande Prairie where he could get back to nature and the outdoors. His biggest love was hunting and still enjoyed it at 83 years of age. Reading, golfing, watching sports, dancing, fishing and spending time with family were his other pastimes. He also loved to sit in his garage and visit the neighbours.
Don had a sharp wit and a great sense of humour. He will be deeply missed by all.

A Celebration of Life will be held by invitation only.
