Obituary For David “Dave” Donald Bellows
October 20, 1955 – December 3, 2023
David Donald Bellows age 68 of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Passed away December 3, 2023, with his Son and Daughter by his side.
David was born on October 20th, 1955. Dave was the fourth child of five children born to Charlie and Irene Bellows. At the age of 14 years old, Dave took his first job with the town of Peace River, looking after the ice at the local arena. Dave moved up to Superintendent of the Town of Peace River, ending his career as the Manager of the Local airport- Peace Air. Dave was a proud volunteer fire fighter and stayed with the Peace River Fire department for 35 years. During his years of service, he was awarded the Alberta Emergency Services medal and the Fire Services Exemplary Services medal (30 + years of service). He made many friendships that last until today. Dave, along with his wife Suzanne Bellows, also helped start and run C.O.P (Citizens On Patrol), and loved helping keep the community safe. Dave was also a bus driver for many years. Dave wore many hats and prided himself on his work in the community. Dave and Suzanne left Peace River in 2017 to move closer to family. They settled in Grande Prairie, Alberta, in 2018.
Dave met his self-proclaimed love of his life Suzanne when he was 35 years old. Suzanne already had two children- Charles and Sunni; Dave never hesitated to accept them as his own. Dave and Suzanne were married in 1988 and the birth of Dave’s only biological child Josh Bellows followed soon after. Dave and Suzanne enjoyed 38 years of marriage, and he will be deeply missed by his wife. Dave considered being a good parent, son, brother, and husband his most important jobs.
Dave will be missed by his siblings Ken (Karen), Larry (Dorothy), Linda (Trent) and Margie. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Dave’s grandchildren Elijah, Ayla, and Lily will miss their grandfather dearly as he truly was their “best friend”.
Dave was predeceased by parents Charles and Irene Bellows, and his cherished Uncle George who he considered a second Dad, and several good friends.
Dave’s family will miss him and without him, life will never be the same. Dave left a mark on everyone he encountered, and he will be remembered by many. We cherish the time we had with him and are grateful to have the years that we did.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to your local fire department. This is something that was close to Dave’s heart.
