Obituary For Christine Erna Haunholter
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christine Erna Haunholter on Friday, July 12, 2024, at the age of 94 years.
She was born on December 11, 1929, in Breslau, Germany and moved, with husband Tom, to Canada in 1953. Chris lived in Peace River, AB, Stony Plain, AB, and finally in Grande Prairie, AB.
Chris enjoyed many trips to her favourite vacation spot, Hawaii, as well as travelling back to Europe to visit her sisters. Nothing gave her more pleasure than playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, visiting her sisters in Germany, and sitting on a beach in Hawaii.
She will be sadly missed by her three sons: John (Sandi), George (Anita), and Ed (Lynn); seven grandchildren: Alyssa (Andy), Kelsey (Dave), Graeme (Lindsay), Jason (Ashley), Trevor, Nicole (Mike), and Megan; eight great-grandchildren: Aila, Addison, Jacob, June, Gavin, Rhys, Emery and Mateo.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Haunholter; special friend Ed Zack; and sisters: Hanna, Hilda, and Trudy.
We, the family, would like to thank the staff at Prairie Lake Seniors Community for providing such good care and comfort to our mom and family during the short time that she was there.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Christine’s honor on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at a location in Peace River, AB, which will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in Chris’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories, or to a charity of one’s choice.
