Marilyn Smith Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Marilyn Wendy Smith announce her passing on October 14.
She will be forever loved and missed by her sister Marthe (Ron) Harker, her niece Tricia (Neil) Frank, nephew Ron (Tracy) Harker, great nieces Delaney Frank, Jordyn Harker (David), Allison Harker (Tindy) and great nephew Brenden Harker. We would be amiss if we did not include her wonderful friends that helped us take care of her and loved her like “family”. Thank you to Michelle Dacyk, Ed and Evelin Grams, Nicole and Ryker Bell and Fran Wylie to name a few. We know there were many others that meant the world to her but we would run out of room to try and name them all! Just know that each of you held a special place in her heart and the family of Marilyn thanks all of you for your kindness, generosity and love shown to Marilyn over the years.
Marilyn moved to Fairview in October 2000 and spent the next 15 years spreading her love and kindness to her patients at the Long term care facility in Fairview. She had a “no crap” attitude and advocated tirelessly for her patients in her care. She always treated them with the same dignity and respect that she would have wanted if she were in their shoes.
Her love of her animals was “legendary”. If there was a cat that needed love and a home, they found it with her. Not only did she take care of her own cats but she ensured that any strays had a warm place to go and food to eat. And it wasn’t just cats, any animal with 4 legs found themselves embraced in her love.
She will be fiercely missed and never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Bandaged Paws to honour her life’s work.
